MOUNT KENYA NATIONAL PARK
Mount Kenya national park has the second highest peak in Africa and is an ancient extinct volcano with 12 remnant glaciers on the mountain, all receding rapidly and four secondary peaks that sit at the head of the U-shaped glacial valleys. Mount Kenya has rugged glacier-clad summits, forested middle slopes and is one of the most impressive landscapes in East Africa. Mount Kenya has about 20 glacial tarns (small lakes) of varying sizes and numerous glacial moraine features between 3,950 m and 4,800 m. The highest peaks are Batian (5,199m) and Nelion (5,188m). The third peak is Point Lenana (4,984m). Mount Kenya has great scenery and ecological formations surrounding. This designated World Heritage Site is breathtakingly beautiful and the park is also a Biosphere Reserve.
